Five days ago, I received a wonderful nomination for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Amidst the challenges or adversities I encountered the entire May, this is a blessing from God I am truly thankful for.
I got this award from Sheqo of Sheqoz.com, a wonderful mom, wife, and blogger. She nominated me alongside other WordPress bloggers.
I was so thrilled and tempted to make a blog post about this right away by then. However, as priority setting is of primordial concern in times of “toxicities”, I had to defer making this post. Thus, after five days of mental, physical, and emotional rest, I finally have the strength to proceed with this post.
The Sunshine Blogger Award is for bloggers who are creative and positive
Believe it or don’t, this nomination really came as a surprise. In the words of Sheqo, the Sunshine Blogger Award is “given to bloggers by other bloggers [who display] creativity and sunshine via their content”.
I never thought that someone, from another part of the globe, will find my posts or content useful, inspiring, or meaningful. It really made my day!
I couldn’t thank Sheqo enough for this humbling nomination!
So how does this Sunshine Blogger Award works?
According to Sheqo, I have to:
Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.
Answer the 11 questions you’ve been asked.
Nominate 11 new bloggers and ask them 11 questions.
Inform your nominees through commenting on their post.
Display the rules and the Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post.
Below are Sheqo’s questions, together with my answers to them:
Why is blogging important to you?
It is through blogging that I get to express my thoughts, opinions, or insights about things, particularly on things that matters most to me – my faith, my life’s aspirations, love, relationships, law, and politics.
Also, blogging has enabled me to harness my thinking and writing skills even more, and make meaningful connections with people from other parts of the world.
How do you help make others better?
I help them by becoming truthful and/or honest to them.
I’d praise or compliment anyone if it is so warranted, in order to reinforce desirable actions and behavior. However, I can be one of your critiques when you do something that go against the fundamental and universal tenets of morality.
At any rate, I do all these with justice, candidness, and fair play. I make sure that my compliments are true enough to bring out the best in the person, while I ensure that my criticisms are constructive so a person can genuinely better himself.
What have you learnt from blogging?
I learned that blogging is totally different from academic writing or legal writing.
As years went by studying law, my writing was slightly stripped of the “conversational tone” that makes communication lighter and less threatening. Consequently, blogging brought back that spontaneity in me, which I used to have before law school.
What would you like to do that you can’t do now?
I’d like to have a full website make over and purchase my very own domain. Aside from financial constraints, I am not yet decided how to go about them.
What is your favorite color and why?
Black and nudes. I believe they pretty much go with everything!
If you could change one thing in the world, what would that be?
Plastics and harmful wastes. I know this is impossible, but I’ve always wished that humans had not gone too greedy and sensitive to the point of ruining our environment – our Mother Earth.
What makes you happy?
God. My family. Jumel, my love. Food. Sleep.
Who is your favorite Author and why?
Nicholas Sparks! He has this special gift of evoking various kinds of emotions in me whenever I read his works.
What is your greatest strength?
Others would say that I have the gift for advocacy and teaching.
What’s your favorite drink?
Anything with caffeine. Lol.
If you are to get a paid vacation to anywhere in the world, where would you end up and why?
Japan and Tuscany (Italy). I and Jumel have always dreamt of travelling to these places!
Now, it’s about time to nominate!
Just like Sheqo, I also have a handful of bloggers I adore.
Here they are and the link to their websites:
Matthew Kick of Observation Blogger
New Lune of New Lune
Tina of God’s Kid Speaks
Monch Weller of The Monching’s Guide
GP Cox of the Pacific Paratrooper
Jenhmarie of Strawberry Milk
Elber Oum of Minimally Me
Bill Sweeney of Unshakeable Hope
Brandon Knoll of Chaotic Shapes
Caralyn of Beauty Beyond Bones
Girl Gunner of the Girl Gunner Blog
Now, it’s my turn to ask my wonderful bloggers-nominees.
As part of the mechanics of the Sunshine Blogger Award, I will be asking the above-mentioned nominees of the following questions:
- Why did you name your blog as such?
- What motivated you to start your blog?
- What is your blog’s niche and why did you choose to focus on it?
- Who is your life’s greatest inspiration?
- What is your philosophy in life and why?
- What song best exemplifies your current life situation?
- If there’s one thing you want to change in yourself, what would that be and why?
- Dog or cat?
- If you would be a food or cuisine, what would it be and why?
- What is your greatest aspiration for humankind?
- How do you see your blog 5 or 10 years from now?
Again, thank you, Sheqo for the nomination!
And to my nominees, congratulations!
